Pond Cypress
(Taxodium distichum)

 

The Pond Cypress is smaller that the Bald Cypress and its' bark is grayer. The trees in the Pond Cypress Swamp are over 100 years old.

The trail leads you parallel with the Pond Cypress Swamp to your right and a Wet Prairie to your left.

The Wet Prairie marsh area is mostly Sand Cordgrass and other grasses and sedges.

 

 

Green Tree Frog
(Hyla cineria)

These tree frogs were found close to the boardwalk. One was even on the boardwalk ! They have suction cups on their toes so they can climb trees easily.
